Sherbrook Primary School

School Nursing Team

Meet the team:

We are The Special Needs School Nursing Team – Sandra Thompson, Pam Simkin and Elizabeth Kelly and we would like to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves and the service we provide. As Special School Nurses we work alongside your School and the Professionals involved in your Child/Young Person’s care. We collaboratively cover Sherbrook Primary School, Hednesford Valley High School, Cherry Trees Primary School and Wightwick Hall School.

We also have an Outreach Team of School Nurses who provide cover over South Staffordshire Schools. This is on an ad-hoc basis, so from time to time, it may be that they contact yourselves on our behalf to ensure your concerns are addressed in a timely manner. Please be reassured that the Outreach Team feedback to ourselves.

During the summer term we will be working with schools to deliver Personal, Social and Health education and Sex and Relationship work. You will be informed when these sessions will be taking place. These will include:

  • Puberty and body changes
  • Relationships
  • Contraception
  • Sexually Transmitted Diseases
  • Body checks- how to check breast and testicles for lumps

Continence

All children / young people 5 years old and above are entitled to an assessment to be considered for a prescription of continence products.

You can ask the School Nursing Team if you would like an assessment to be completed.

All children / young people already receiving continence products will have a reassessment either 6 or 12 monthly dependent on products prescribed.

This reassessment may highlight that changes are required
