Sherbrook Primary School

Fir Class

Overview of class

Welcome to Fir Class. We are a mixed EYFS/KS1 class in the pre formal pathway. We are just starting our journey at Sherbrook, getting to know our school and build relationships with staff in our class. Our teachers are Tania and Michelle, our TA is Kylie and our ISAs are Cheryl, Natalie and Lauren. We learn through play, 1:1 and small group work, intensive interaction and continuous provision activities. We have lots of sensory exploration, attention autism sessions, and opportunities for learning outside the classroom.

This half term we are learning about People who help us; such as police, firefighters, teachers, dentists, doctors and nurses as well as our families. We have opportunities to dress up, and use toy emergency service vehicles.

In English we are looking at books about People who help us. We are listening to sounds of sirens, making vehicles move in different ways and pretending to be Doctors and other people who help us.

Our Maths focus is ‘night and day.’ We are learning about the routines we have during the day and night, looking at activities we do during the day and those we do during the night.

In Topic we are continuing with our ‘People who help us’ theme. We are matching pictures of emergency service people and vehicles, looking at our families and how they help us each day and exploring practical activities associated with those that help us.
