Adventurer 2
Overview of class.
Welcome to Adventurer 2. We are a lower Key Stage 2 class. Steph is our Teacher. Aprille is the TA. Jodie, Jemma and Jackie are the ISA's.
Autumn 1:
Our class have been looking at:
English: We’ve been busy building sentences using Colourful Semantics, which has helped the children understand sentence structure and describe characters with greater detail and confidence. This approach has supported their language development in a fun and visual way.
As part of our literacy focus, we’ve listened to traditional tales in group sessions, including The Three Little Pigs and Little Red Riding Hood. These stories have sparked lots of imaginative play and discussion.
To enrich the experience, we’ve incorporated sensory activities such as making porridge, inspired by The Three Little Pigs, and going on a woodland hunt in the classroom to find characters from Little Red Riding Hood. The children thoroughly enjoyed learning through these hands-on experiences, which supported their understanding of story elements and character roles.
Overall, the children have engaged enthusiastically in a wide range of sensory play and interactive learning, helping to deepen their comprehension and make learning memorable.
Maths: We have introduced the concept of number 0 and have been exploring numbers from 0 to 5 and beyond. The children have been learning to identify numerals and match them to their corresponding quantities. This has been achieved through a variety of engaging activities including games, songs, interactive play, and practical everyday situations.
Science: We’ve been learning about electricity and how to stay safe around it. The children explored appliances like a toaster and microwave, and even made a simple circuit to turn a light on and off. They loved learning through sensory and practical activities!
Topic: We’ve been learning about the Victorians, focusing on Queen Victoria and how life was different in the past. The children compared old and modern toys, enjoyed a trip to Blists Hill Victorian Town, and took part in a classroom afternoon tea dressed as kings and queens. They loved exploring history through practical and sensory activities!
Forest Schools: We are exploring our natural environment, children will be getting messy so please could you send in change of clothes and waterproofs with wellies on these days.
Autumn 2:
Next half term, we’ll be learning all about Incredible India! The children will explore henna and rangoli patterns, discover foods and spices, and learn about animals and plants that originate from India. It’ll be a vibrant mix of sensory and creative activities to spark curiosity and cultural awareness.
