Spring 1:

In English we have been reading the stories: ‘There’s a Dragon in Your Book’ by Tom Fletcher,  ‘Tell Me a Dragon’ by Jackie Morris and ‘Zog’ by Julia Donaldson.  We have enjoyed listening and acting out the stories, recognising and identifying verbs and sequencing parts of a story. We have joined in with the role playing of our stories. Our favourite book was, ‘There’s a dragon in your book’ – it was so much fun helping the dragon. We have also worked on developing our fine motor skills and learning new sounds in phonics.

In Maths, we have been focusing on number. This has included: more and less and identifying amounts.

This half term, we have really enjoyed exploring our topic on castles.  This has included making food crafts using dry and wet textures e.g. dragons from a variety of fruit and vegetables, castles from a bread template and dragons from biscuits and other yummy ingredients including banana, breadsticks and white chocolate.  We explored some Castle Artwork by ‘Paul Klee’ and created our own art based on this.  We have enjoyed exploring the school grounds, looking out for castle items on our hunt.

Forest school has been so much fun! We created some lovely items in order to support the wildlife’s habitats, as well as some beautiful artwork which is now hanging proudly in school.

Spring 2:

Next half term our Topic is ‘Toy Story’

  • Swimming will still take place on a Tuesday.
  • As it is now very cold, please make sure your child has a warm coat, hat, scarf and gloves, all labelled with their names.
  • Forest schools are on a Monday, so please come into school in ‘mucky clothes’ with a named change of clothes.
  • PE is on Thursdays so please come into school in your PE kit.
  • Library books will be changed every Tuesday, please ensure they are in your child’s bag.
  • Please send home/school diaries, reading books and reading records back in every day. We try to ensure reading books are changed once a week.
  • Please label ALL of your child’s belongings.
  • Please ensure your child has a spare set of clothes to change into in their bags. This is especially important during the colder, wetter months.
  • Thank you for your continued support.
